Chemonics International is seeking a

Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Intern for the USG Business Line. Chemonics’ Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) team provides guidance and support to Chemonics Washington and project office staff in designing robust MEL plans and systems for measuring and reporting project results. We leverage the experience and knowledge of our MEL resource network, a diverse group of professionals working in various regions and practice areas across the company, as well as our project office specialists across the globe. Under the direction of a supervisor, the intern will contribute to the analysis of outcomes in selected sectors/development themes as related to Chemonics’ global operations and identification of trends, lessons learned, and issues. The intern is integrated into the daily work of a Chemonics unit and performs technical, new business, and project management tasks as needed. The intern also participates in professional development activities and practice networks to gain an understanding of the international development field and Chemonics technical areas. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Responsibilities:

Participate in all internship activities and events scheduled during normal business hours

Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain relevant departmental data systems

Filter and “clean” data to provide input into value added analytics

Interpret data, analyze results using different analytical techniques and provide ongoing reports

Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets

Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize reporting efficiency and quality

Work with management to prioritize business and information needs

Requirements:

Enrolled student currently pursuing an undergraduate (rising junior or senior) degree or graduate degree (first year of program completed)

Minimum of 3.0 GPA

Strong writing and analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy c3iNSYm CWdH0q

Exceptional oral and written communication skills in English

Demonstrated interest in international development

Ability to work on a team and independently on projects and tasks

Advanced Excel skills including facility with formulas, pivot tables and filtering tools

Strong data visualization skills to create data visualization tools that clearly communicate findings

Some completed coursework in monitoring and evaluation, international development, social sciences, mathematics, economics, computer science, information management, statistics, or related field preferred

 Research experience preferred

Experience using qualitative research methods and tools (Dedoose, Atlas.ti, Orange, etc.) preferred but not essential.

Experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (SPSS, SAS etc.) preferred but not essential

Experience using data visualization (PowerBI, Tableau) or geospatial analytics (ESRI ArcGIS, Google Earth, QGIS) packages preferred but not essential

Experience with databases (Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, or cloud databases), programming (XML, Javascript, or Python frameworks), and APIs desirable, but not essential

Demonstrated leadership, versatility and integrity
